Bill Gates: AI’s Impact on Jobs Could Subject the World to Two Decades of Turbulent Transition

“Artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics may eventually create a society of sufficient abundance to allow people to work shorter weeks or even retire early, but before that happens, the world will likely undergo a turbulent transition period lasting around 20 years,” Microsoft founder Bill Gates said in an interview with Shanghai-based outlet The Paper. “Whenever I speak with world leaders, I tell them: please start thinking seriously about this issue now, because you may be underestimating it.”
